What Solution Architecture Definition Really Is

Updated: Dec 28, 2022

When it comes to the IT world, a solution architect is in charge of the developing and building a

company’s IT infrastructure. Rather than developing it themselves, they facilitate discussion and decisions with stakeholders that will best benefit the company and will then develop a plan for the technical project at hand. There are generally many different solutions and it’s the solution architect’s job to understand the client’s capabilities, business needs and capacity to change, in order to arrive at what would best suit the client’s needs.

One of the main goals in solution architecture definition is to maintain consistency throughout the IT plan’s options. Not only should it meet all of the requirements the client’s business has, but it should solve the critical business issues making the workplace much more manageable and efficient as an effect of the IT solutions.

A solution architect should ensure that all corporate standards are met for the client so that the solutions implemented are effective and long-lasting. IT solutions may not result in a brand-new system; the architect can potentially utilize other systems within the company to develop the ideal solution for the client’s needs.
